But REALLY can we talk about your style for a second because this really is a concern for me.

Sure you look cute in your H2O hoodie and your baseball jerseys and even in that dress in the Brick by Boring Brick video you look lovely. It's just when left to your own devices to do the "girl" things seem to go pear shaped.

So sad one of my favourite ever ever ever actresses passed away yesterday. Wasn't one i expected at all! Pretty shocking stuff!

Not only is it sucky that such a cute and great actress as gone but the world has lost the perfect Joker in Heath ledger AND now the perfect Harley Quinn now too!!

I think i'll be watching Happy Feet, Clueless and Spun this week in memory of her kickass times!

so that bad feeling in my tummy was justified...but not for the reason i thought. What i thought was going to go wrong actually couldn't be better (I'm VERY MUCH in love) and a friendship i thought was solid turned out to be the furthest thing from it.

C'est La Vie as they say, I know i've said my piece and i won't dwell on waiting. Noone should ever dwell on the bad times.

So my birthday came and went and was INCREDIBLE !!

We had a 1920's themed party and EVERYONE looked awesome (Boyhalf looked especially dapper) i feel so happy to have such wonderful pals.

For my birthday i was spoiled rotten, i won't go into everything i got but my favourite things were LIPS : Number one hits for the Xbox 360 and my Betsey Johnson watch, bracelet and necklace. Also our new tv is amazing and i FINALLY got a new camera so i no longer have to rely on everyone else's photo skills!!

Getting LIPS was awesome, i've since been serenading Boyhalf with Marvin Gaye songs intersperced with Baby Got Back. I'm a total gem i tell ya!!

Im making an early new years resolution to blog more!!

Last night Boyhalf informed me that since it's a month till Christmas it's acceptable for me to start playing holiday music in the flat again without looking slightly odd. This excites me.

I especially adore Dustin Kensrue of Thrice's album "This Good Night Is Stll Everywhere". It's lovely. As well as the Bright Eyes Christmas album.
I've always been more of a fan of cover versions of christmas songs, and its tradition now for me and Boyhalf to put on a playlist of christmas covers and put up out tree and then drink coco with marshmallows after. I can't wait :D

I think Jeremy Scott's flinstone's inspired show at LFW was adorbes and i have no idea why i didn't say anything about it earlier. I'm a big lover of dino's as you all know and i used to love watching the show as a kid (i especially loves Pebbles!) and HOW MUCH would i kill for a pair of those shoes?!?

But he's come back into my radar recently with his collection of bags for French luggage brand Longchamp to collaborate on their famous "Pliage" bag. Pliage means folding, since you can fold the bag into a very small piece to put it away.
Ranging from 90 Euro to about 200 Euro from Collette my eyes are on the Bone Bag. J'ADORE!!

So i misbehaved and never did get round to posting a LFW blog, my new job has had me swamped. I'm super tired lately but i'm hoping my body will get used to it soon. Since by now EVERYONE has blogged LFW i thought i'd skip right to the Pièce de résistance and blog Paris Fashion Week. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Paris Fashion Week as it combines my two all time loves.

Paris is always great for the classic look and Christian Dior Cruise collection didn't disappoint. This is definately my favourite collection of the week.

Will You Be Watching?

So lately i've been lacking in TV goodness to watch so thank god starting tonight i'm going to be spoilt for choice, over on ITV2 at 8pm we've got the season premiere of Gossip Girl Season 3 which i am sososo excited about. I can't wait to see what happens with all the characters since they're supposed to have gone off to college, something tells me it won't be the last time we see them all in NYC. I'm obviously especially hyper for the outfits, how i've missed my Blairspiration !

If that doesn't tickle you then head over to 4 at 10pm for new series True Blood. I've heard nothing but awesomeness about this and it looks set to be as big here as it is in the states. It seems like my perfect mix of show, vampires, sex and the deep south. What more does a girl need?

Last night i spoke to my old best friend in the first time in almost a year (bar the stuff when we fell out) It was weird. It was weirder than weird. She acted like nothing had ever happened and went and spoke to Boyhalf while i was at the bar, then he told me she asked after me so i couldn't be rude and i went and spoke to her.

We didn't speak about what happened, and i don't feel we need to, her sister came up in conversation (from her side NOT mine) and i was honest when i said, i'm not affected, as far as i'm concerned she literally doesn't exist. I don't feel either way about her anymore. There's just nothing.

I've changed so much this year, i'm so much stronger than i was when we fell out, and maybe since i don't NEED her anymore, it'll be easier to have her there.

We'll never be the Mk & A we were as kids.
But maybe not hating each other is enough. xoxo

We were completely freaked out by the Ron Mueck exhibition, which featured giant versions of clay models of people, such as a 10ft baby that looked so real it terrified me !

So my friend Iona wrote this about our night last night, and since it had myself and miss V in STITCHES all day i decided to post it for your viewing pleasure.

ENJOY!

1) Buy a litre of Vodkat or Jack Daniels ( i added JD since that's what I was drinking)
2) Eat houmous and chips.
3) Mime your way through "Poker Face".
4) Fall over on Union Street.
5) Get in a fight because your best pal was getting bummed at the bank machine. Then loose your earrings.
6) Look like this....
7) Plan and arrange outfits for Halloween which involve being Iona YF and Vic Hendo.
8) Dance to "some sort of hardcore version of 'Baby got back'".
9) Ask random birds to do up your dress whilst standing naked in the toilets.
10) Pretend "Boom Boom Pow" is playing when it's really Slipknot just because you want an excuse to dance with Smit.
11) Loose your friends.
12) Manage to get to Warehouse. Blag your way in for free by demanding you get a stamp. Lone behold your friends managed put THEMSELVES on the guestlist.
13) As soon as you arrive, start the Iona Tierney academy of dance. This involves, jogging on the spot, pointing your fingers like you are an air traffic controller and jog the length of the dancefloor on your lonesome. For 40 minutes straight.
14) Don't panic when your best friend falls INTO a table.
15) Go back to Korova by yourself because you doubt that walking up the stairs to go to the toilet is a good plan.
16) It's 3am. Time to vomit.
17) Have your best friend tell some guy that his name is not a name, it is an emotion. "Sigh" or "Si".

Season three of Gossip Girl starts tonight in the states and i for one am hyper. It's one show i won't wait till next years UK screenings to watch. It's already feeling like too long since season two ended.
Hilary Duff joins the cast this season and it seems Georgina is back too.
I love Gossip Girl fashion, Blair Waldorf is my personal fashion saviour, and looks like season three hasn't stumbled in the fashion stakes at all.

Knock Out Cosmetics new Flatte black nail polish is to die for. It's the first matte nail colour i've seen and it looks super sophisticated.
This new style has been created by fabulous New York make up artist Mike Potter (He did the makeup for far too cool film Hedwig & The Angry Inch, which if you haven't seen i suggest you amend that pronto). He apparently was sick of not being able to find any non glossy nail polishes so he went and created his own. It comes in a variety of shades but my money is down for the black and the Karen (which is essentially just red).

Who's been a naughty blogger?

I am scolding myself for being a bad blogger and leaving y'all for far too long :[ So much has been going on in my offline life i've barely found any time to sit down let alone get tapping on my keys. Plus my laptop charger decided it was suicidal and so now i'm using the Boyhalf's computer.

The weather is icky right now. Too much wet made me realise i don't have much rain friendly clothes. I don't wear trousers, i have one pair of jeans and they're rockabilly style capri's so not much use unless i want soaking legs. This is when thick tights become my friend.

I made several new purchases such as these Reko for Topshop delights.

The Boyhalf won a £50 Topman voucher so he's been assisting me in the shopping days, i think we've collectively kept the Topshop/Topman brand in business this week. MUST NOT LOOK AT BANK STATEMENT.

Boyhalf and i are planning a trip to Thorpe Park soon so i'm SUPER excited about that too. I love amusement parks and we went to Disneyland last December for my 21st so this would be amazing.

Yesterday Boyhalf and I took a little movie trip to see the new kickass Tarantino epic, Inglourious Basterds. I love Tarantino, as a previous student of film i have studied his work in some depth and have a greater appreciation for it but even when i first saw Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs i knew i was seeing something special. I really believe this movie could be the new cult film in five or ten years. I also studied History for a year, focusing on Hitler's rise to power so this film was right up my alley (just don't expect it to be what you read in the books).

Everything about this movie works, i already previously blogged about my anticipation of the outfits and they didn't dissapoint, especially Julie Dreyfuss' as Francesca Mondino, Goebbels' interpretor, that leopard print hat and shawl were total winners as were both Von Hammersmark and Shosanna's outfits at the Premiere in the movie. I was totally swept up in it.

I think it's a shame a lot of people have been bitching the movie out for being so dialogue heavy, guess some people just expected to see a gory war movie and not a Tarantino film. I love his attention to detail and the way he builds a scene up, the German three finger thing (if you see it you'll understand) was pure attention t detail and i wish they hadn't explained it as it was one of those things to make you think.

Oh and Eli Roth's Bear Jew wins everything. And Brad Pitt's accent.

My best friend is awesome.

FACT.

Last year i fell out with someone who was my best friend since we were 14 years old and it was the worst situation ever. However through that i made a lot of new friends and became closer to others through branching out . One of the people i got to know better was this girl. WWII Style.

Inspired by Quentin Tarantino's BADASS new cinematic adventure ' Inglourious Basterds' i thought i'd take a look at the fashion of my favourite era the 1940's.

Some of my favourite looks and hairstyles come from the ladies of the war effort, such as the Victory Rolls and and Pomp.

Women like Rita Haywortgh, Ava Gardner, Vivienne Leigh, and my personal idols Betty Grable and Veronica Lake were at the height then and regular women, just like now wanted to emulate these women they saw on the silver screen.

I just adore the cut of the clothes in the 1940's. The glamour and the class. I think this era will always appeal to fashionistas out there because the combined class and seductivity is something you really can't get elsewhere. Hemlines got shorter to save on material and nylon stockings were so popular that women were drawing on the telltale seam on their leg to give the appearance of stocking and to drive the men wild. And it worked. Red lipstick and waspies became commonplace to go with the tight waisted dresses and the femininity of the look.

Of course in 1947 an unknown french designer called Christian Dior launched his first line, and we all know where that story goes.

You know how mummies and grannies always have that "secret ingredient" they put into dishes that make their food taste that bit better than everyone elses? Well in this day and age of takeout, eating out and generally not having time to make casserole every night, us girls have moved on. Now our "secret" isn't pepper or cumin it's PRODUCTS. And, ladies, Lush's Skin Drink is MY secret ingredient.

I have terrible dry skin, i curse air-con and winter as any temperature changes make me break out in red patches. This moisturising cream is perfect for last thing at night as i find it best to let it just soak in rather than caking make up over it before it's had time to properly work.

Containing Sesame Oil, Avacado and Cocoa Butter you can feel your skin becoming calmer and softer as you're putting it on. While it does come in quite a small tub, it lasts you ages as it's so rich, you only need a small dollop of it to cover your neck and face.

Last weekend was wicked good, despite the fact i appear to have contracted death flu from Edinburgh, it was so worth it. I miss my Jen quite alot and didn't really realise it until i went to visit her. The Hive was like the hottest place EVER, no idea how these girls can keep their perfect hair in that sort of climate. Gutted mine hits mad medusa lady on the frizz-o-meter within a foot of any humidity.

A selection of designers including Betsey Johnson, Jimmy Choo, Gwen Stefani and Oscar De La Renta have re-imagined the classic ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz in honour of the 70th anniversary of the movie and they were previously on display in New York last year. I heard about this a while ago but thought i'd blog about it now as you can now go and see these designs here in the UK! They are on display at the Swarovski CRYSTALLIZED™ lounge in London until the 20th August so be quick !

Get The Look - Dita Von Teese

So in the previous incarnation of my blog over at tumblr i used to occasionally do a section every other week (or when i could be bothered, i was a bad blogger back then) called "get the look" focusing on how to achieve some of my favourite celebs looks.
I decided to bring it back and i'm starting with one of my personal big time style crushes, Dita Von Teese.

Dita's style is always flawless, she channels that icredible 1940's burlesque/vaudeville/old hollywood glamour with such ease and elegance, she doesn't just turn heads, she breaks necks. So follow these tips and you too could snag a hot french count like Louis Marie de Castelbajac. J'adore!

Make Up

Dita's make up is always flawless and always dramatic. She also pretty much always goes for the same look which has become her signature, the bright red siren lips and the dark cat eyes. Dita herself says she uses a light reflecting foundation in an ivory shade, such as L'oreal true match N1 Ivory. This is a non oily foundation which contains glycerin to make it blend completely with your natural skin tone, science lesson over. I find using fingertips is best with this foundation as it's easier and leaves fewer traces than a sponge. This is also a long lasting base since it doesn't melt away like some other products. Although Casper pale girls like Dita (and myself) can get away with choosing the lightest shade possible, i suggest if you have a darker skin tone you opt for something a little darker than ivory as you can end up looking washed out if you go too light.

A powder cover will give you that perfect matte complexion. I recommend using MAC Invisible Set Powder, the matte finish absorbs oil for a long time and gives a very dramatic finish to the face.

For the eyes you obviously want black black and more black. You're going for the Cleopatra look but you want to make sure you keep it classy and not end up like a panda. Choose the eyeliner format you're most comfortable with , i personally use a mixture of the liquid and rectractable pencil both from Rimmel's Exaggerate line for daytime and use Écriture De Chanel automatic liquid liner for night, but you can also use a regular pencil, or if you're feeling really brave, powder.

For best results, stretch your eyelid out with your free hand and, starting from the corner of your eye, sweep right across towards your temple. Making sure your wings at the end are perfect is ESSENTIAL, if you mess up just use a cotton bud to remove the excess and start again. Practice makes perfect.

I would suggest keeping the eyelids bare but depending on your skin tone, a little white eyeshadow can really make those eyes pop.

Fake eyelashes can really make a difference and with so many to choose from you can go from a subtle lengthening to full blown peacock feathers! I'd recommend MAC's fake eyelashes, or my must have, Naturalites 101. They can really be tricky for some people at first but once you get the hang of it it's just like riding a bike, but much more glamourous.
For mascara you want to use a volumising product to give that Bambi effect. Something like Max Factor 2000 Calorie Dramatic Look or L'Oreal's latest offering, Extra-Volume Collagen Mascara, which has a brush 50% larger than other mascaras and gives you the biggest lashes i've seen without falseies.. I do however suggest you at least TRY Benefit's Bad Gal Lash at least once. It's a product i think every girl should own.

The Pièce de résistance of Dita's look is of course her fierce scarlet lips. Dita herself confesses to having hundreds of different shades of red lipstick. She says her favourite shades are 'Russian Red' by MAC and Christian Dior Diorific 'Rouge Bingo', but experiment at the make up aisle for yourself and don't forget to get liplock to keep that pout perfect no matter how many martini's you sip ! Also to get that perfect 40's pout use a cotton bud to push a little V shape into the top lip to really have that perfect cupid's bow the old glamour stars lusted after.

Hair

Dita's dark hair really sets off her pale skin and red lips. After a return home to L.A. from Paris recently, Dita herself tweeted: "Blonde roots are showing. Big day at the drugstore to pick up a box of blue/black! Hope the Hollywood goths didn't beat me to it. Hate salons!" So if you want hair like Miss Von Teese i suggest Schwarzkopf Live in Cosmic Blue for the same shade Dita covers her blode locks with.

As for styling, be prepared to spend a LOT of time perfecting this one. She says her hair-spiration was Sherilyn Fenn from Twin Peaks back in the day. You can do your hair in multiple styles to recreate Dita's look, from pincurls to victory rolls to complete that 1940's bombshell look. There are a lot of really great tutorials on Youtube for these styles but as long you keep it looking classy you can't go wrong.

Outfits
For a woman who made her name for what she wasn't wearing, Dita has become a fashion icon of late with designers gagging to get her at their front rows.
Dita LOVES couture, and would die for Dior. She also has a real obsession with shopping vintage and loves a bargain find. Copying her look however doesn't have to break your bank. You can't go wrong with a classy black shift and a cinch belt or a high waisted skirt. It's all about class for the Dita look and the word casual should be obliterated from your vocabulary.

Yep, that basically sums it up. John Hughes was my HERO. There has, in my opinion, never been a man who captured so much of a generation right through his career. Iconic movies like The Breakfast Club, Weird Sciene, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink and Ferris Bueller's Day Off shaped the 80's and gave us the group we know today as "The Brat Pack". He also wrote Home Alone, Mr Mom, Flubber, Uncle Buck and Beethoven, so the man had skills. So i am genuinely quite upset. Sure the last thing he did was Drillbit Taylor which, although i haven't seen, i have heard is less than stellar.

So John Hughes we salute you !

I always love discovering new designers to fall in love with and Charlotte Olympia is no exception. Charlotte Olympia is the brainchild of Charlotte Dellal, daughter of Brazilian supermodel, Andrea Dellal and sister of fashion favourite Alice Dellal.
She stole my heart last year with her incredible style. Her shoes are always perfectly teetering on the edge between divinely girly and that little bit badass. Like if Barbie punked herself up for the day.
The thing that strikes me about her designs is her unique soles, which are not only a unique shape, with that little dip at the ball, but also have a gold spiderweb across them.

So here's this months breakdown...

Good things i watched.

Trailer Park of Terror
This little lady happens to be a giant fan of all things redneck and so when i heard about a film called "Trailer Park of Terror" i HAD to see it and i am so glad i did. I guess i expected it to be another crappy B-movie, but i was ok with that since i had prepared myself for a laughriot of a bad movie. However, this was not the case, sure with it's low brow humour and jokes ("My back door is always open", "you just made my south rise again") it's not going to be to everyone's taste but my god did i LOVE this. Even the soundtrack was killer, one rockabilly ditty after another. It's best described as My Name is Earl with zombies. Now don't act like you don't want to see that.
Watch it. Love it.

Hot Rod.
I was actually going to wait and actually review this one. I might still so i'm keeping this little bit short. Andy Samberg.Marry me. Serious. This movie is basically the funniest thing i have watched in FOREVER. Never laughed so damn hard.

Psychoville.
This darker than dark comedy from the BBC written by and starring Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith of League of Gentlemen fame as well as Dawn French. It actually was really creepy and definately more than a little sinister. My fingers are crossed for a second series since so much is still to be explained!!

I went to see Bruno and thought it was pretty bays. Not nearly as good as it'd been hyped. Boo!

Firstly, i didn't do TILF yesterday, MY BAD !
Last night was amazing. Like the best night i've had in oh so long !

The best people in my life were all there and the banter was top form. From Ella's perfect conversation, to Miss V's epic one liners, Nothing compares to Miss Plew's when you get some Beyonce on the go, Jamielee makes the best punch, Suzie makes me laugh like a kid my Wife's the most wonderful girl i know. I love her too much.

Boyhalf got a haircut yesterday and it looks SOSO good! I'm a pretty lucky girl :) I can't ever put into words how amazing i think he is and how in love i am. But everyone knows we're a forever kind of thing and i'm so happy.

the Klub was soso good, top props to Ben and Hendo for keeping my ass on the dancefloor for basically the entire night! Pour Some Sugar On Me made me DEEEELIGHTED !!
Being told how pretty i looked by everyone was pretty neat too haha !

Last night i saw someone i don't see often but who for about ten months i've hated so much. I saw her and didn't feel a thing. No anger, no fear, no bitchiness (well maybe a little) and it felt kind of awesome. It's been so long since i last saw her (I've seen her about 3 times since the whole breakdown of our "friendship") i didn't even realise it wouldn't affect me anymore. SCORE ONE FOR ME.

I've spent all morning watching Whitesnake videos on Youtube. I have yet to understand why. AT ALL.
Fuck it.

And basically a whole lot of other 80's hair metal bands i should pretend i don't.

Jealousy is a TERRIBLE thing, but i think i'll be forgiven for wishing i was Lily Allen once more. These shots from the campaign for the new Chanel Cocoon show Miss Allen looking straight out of Breakfast at Tiffany's and looking amazing. Not many girls can pull off Miss Hepburn's classic signature look well, and if you look at Lily a few years back, all loud-mouthed and trainers with her sweetheart dresses you'd be forgiven for thinking there is noone worse for the role. Lately, however our little ragamuffin has classed the fuck up and now she always looks the picture of perfection. With the amount of Chanel in her wardrobe it was only a matter of time before she was being paid for it.

Parisian chic combined with Lily's girl next door cuteness sells these bags, with Karl Lagerfeld's incredible eye for photography, this campaign is sure to be a hit.

This week i have been a bit of a recluse, BLAME the last week before payday. Boo!!
I did however manage a couple catch up's with Schmoo and saw my little brother a LOT. Also bought him a present, which he'll get in due course. Saw Have Heart's last tour, except Pat wasn't singing for them which was sucky, but Steve still did a quality job of actually putting the show together so snaps for Steve.

Such excitement that the trailer to Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland has leaked.
Naturally i was going to be killer excited for this, being an adaptation to my all time favourite children's book and all time favourite Disney movie.
Like you can't tell from the layout and title of this blog.
Oh man, just watch it for yourself and see how incredible this movie looks. It's the movie Burton was born to make, it's totally perfect to his style and vision. I love the darkness and the complete fantastical look to it.
Everything just looks so perfect. I'm mad excited for this movie.
I'm already marking it for my favourite of 2010.
And once again props to Depp for being amazingly absurd as per usual.
His voice in this trailer gets me good.

I wanted to be Alice so badly as a kid.

An ex burlesque performer, with incredible style, this half spanish redhead is now getting herself on the map as a singer, after also dipping her toes in the acting pool. You might have seen her as Andrea (the goth) in the St. Trinians remake. I didn't see that movie, but thanks IMDB for the facts. Things i love Friday!

This week i've mostly done nothing, which is actually kinda nice, spent a lot of time with Boyhalf catching up on recorded TV and cuddles, LOTS of cuddles.

Excitment abound though, photographer Massimo Gammacurta created these A-DORABLE fashion lollypops as the perfect thing to keep you occupied front row at fashion week. Now if there's one thing that can compete for my affections against fashion, it's candy.

Apparently they come in Louis Vuitton Watermelon, Gucci Pomegranate, Yves Saint Laurent Caramel and Cherry and Chanel Apple and Lilac.

I always said i had a taste for high fashion.

Last night was the best night out in town i have had in a really long time. SO glad we decided that staying in was for old people and nerds. haha.
We went to Dibble and Jamielee's flat warming and all the decent folk were there, but someone was noticeably missing. I really miss RB hanging out with all of us, i know there is nothing i can do but sometimes i feel sorry for those involved.
We cracked open the champagne i left there last time and toasted the move in. I'm never one to turn down a glass of good bubbly.
Jamielee made me an EPIC drink of Peach Schnapps, Vodka, Cherry Coke and Grenadine. It was like a fizzy Sex on the Beach. Rad as fuck. Naturally everyone got too drunk and a few words were thrown about and a few tears were shed before we even left to head to the Klub. I'm not suprised though, sometimes tensions run too high and people get involved in shit they shouldn't. Me included.

I really wish people would say how they feel when they're sober, why does it take getting shitfaced to open up to people. How do straight edge kids do it? Do they just hole it all up? I always thought the thing about friends was you were supposed to tell each other anything, no matter what but apparently i have the wrong end of the stick. I've realised there are TWO groups of friends.
The ones who will tell you when you fuck up, tell you if your ass looks big and be there through everything and the ones who act like you can do no wrong then bitch you out when your back is turned.
It's safe to say, i'm weeding out one of those groups.
No bets on which.

Last night i realised i can be SO happy with the life i have and the people i surround myself with these days. A good bunch of boys and birds.

Someone super close to me told me last night the reason they think a lot of girls have issues with me. They reckon i have a pretty desirable relationship with a lot of my male friends, no drama and no late night booty calls, just great friendships, something apparently a lot of girls would kill to have.

Something to ponder for sure.

Things i Love Friday!

This week i enjoyed work for the first time in what feels like forever. I've been working in a different department and it's been really busy and fun and i just feel like this is something i can really see myself doing. Luckily next week i'll be super busy since the other CO is off on holiday. So maybe it isn't all so bad after all.

Just found out Boyhalf's friend invited us to his wedding reception in September so i've been dress hunting like nothing on earth. It's an excuse (not that i ever need one) to buy a really lovely dress that's a little more expensive than i'm usually comfortable with. I have a few i'm thinking about but i'm trying really hard not to relive Ben's wedding when i was informed i looked like a stripper. BAD TIMES.

I think i fell out with RB but i'm not sure since he texted me late last night to tell me he's coming out this weekend. I don't like falling out with people who make me smile, it's never fun. Let's hope we're close enough for it not to count. *fingers officially crossed*.

Fashion Week Day Three.

So the final day of couture week was yesterday and what a week it's been.
My favourite show of the final day was definately John Paul Gaultier. Drawing inspiration from Hollywood glamour and the space age films such as Barbarella.

I really love this collection a lot. It's not by any means what i go for but Gaultier always delivers something fresh but still identifiable as his. I especially adore the little sailoresque outfit with the red and white striped top (given my sailor obsession, i would!) Gaultier is one of those designers who is so recognisable and i love that, when you can just look at an item and know whos work it is.

Elie Saab went for a minimalistic view, similar to that shown by Chanel the previous day. An extremely bridal looking collection but since Galliano already took care of my wedding dress issue on day one not a lot to interest me here.

In an almost defiant move, Valentino's collection was a complete contrast to Saab's, preffering gothic imagery and shades of blacks and nudes to the virginal feel of the other collection. I am completely enamoured with with the fourth outfit down. I really really love it.

So that's Couture week for another year. Done and dusted and i was pretty impressed with what was on offer. My piece of the week is most definately this baby here from Chanel. I would KILL to own this, and i view it as a wearable piece of couture as well, something i WOULD/COULD wear as opposed to a lot of the designs this year.

Although honourable mention does have to go to my darling of the week John Galliano, because while Chanel stole my favourite piece, Galliano for Dior stole my heart with his collection. In my eyes the finest line of couture i have EVER seen. i love that man i truely do.

Fashion Week Day Two

So after yesterday incredible Dior show i was ready to give up hope on the rest of couture week as Galliano had already made my month with his 50's inspired collection. However, my other designer pleasure was showing and what girl doesn't love a bit of Chanel?

Beautiful. Especially that red one three up. That would be my second favourite for sure. The obvious winner for anyone who knows me is the last one i've put. It just screams couture so much! There's a real fun and girly element to this year's collection that isn't always so evident in Lagerfeld's work. It wasn't quite the oppulant all white January show but it definetly delivered that Chanel look we all know, love and covet.

Giorgio Armani said he was inspired by the movie heroines of the golden age and the show was set to 1940's music. However the collection itself doesn't have a particularly retro feel to it. I found his collection unoriginal and i just felt i had seen it all before from other designers.

At what could possibly be his last couture show, Christian Lacroix's collection was still stunning, if a little more toned down than usual.

Givenchy showed something similar to other collections from the house but it was nonetheless a good selection. i personally don't really follow Givenchy much as it's not my taste but it seemed to be well received at fashion week.

Fashion Week Day One.

Oh John Galliano! You spoil me so!!
Like i ever needed another reason to adore (or should that be j'adore?) this man. Then he whips out his Dior couture line and i die. Applause all round monsieur, this show was a classic example as to the reason NOONE makes me heart flutter quite like Dior.

Incredible right?
The emphasis on colour and the 50's inspiration really got me hooked and the cheeky stockings and bras made me fall head over high heels. I think we may have already found my darling of couture week. Plus he's clearly just made my wedding dress for me!

Christophe Josse's show was really red carpet couture. I could see these dresses on Angelina and Keira Knightley easily.

Alexis Mabille also showed yesterday and his chosen theme was a lot more pastel and demure than Galliano's.

Stephane Rolland's show really did nothing for me. I found the collection bland and there was nothing that really grabbed me as great couture. I've never really been into architectural clothing and i think this is why his collection doesn't mesh well with me. I think it has potential but was my least favourite collection of the day.

I have to say i am a huge fan of this year's fashion week already :)

J'adore Haute Couture.

So Paris Couture week for fall/winter 2009/2010 starts today and this little trashionista is STOKED. Haute couture is my achilles heel, there's nothing i love more than just sifting through all the stunning, yet completely impractical designs. Couture week, in this financial climate, is even more of an escape from the norm and brings out the Marie Antionette mindset i love so much. These three days are all about extravagance and perfection, money is NO object for these designers.

You'll notice Dior is showing their collection twice to accomodate all the interest from press and Fashion followers alike and Chanel is being shown at a pretty late 9pm, but since it's sure to be one of the most incredible shows i'm sure they'll be forgiven. I'm also really interested to see Christian Lacroix's show since, given the recent financial problems the house has had, it could very well be the last show from the house. I also can't believe there is no mention of a Versace show at all.

Obviously i won't be buying anything shown from any of the houses (the recession does unfortunately still affect girls like me) but my eyes will be peeled to catch the trends and colours to follow next season.

Things i love Friday

This week i've had such a lovely time. I like when you get some time off to play and catch up with the people in your life. Tonight my girl Jamielee is back from Ibiza and i have missed her quite a bit so we're doing a little get together at her and V's pad (which is actually now Jamie, V AND Dibble's pad).
Last night i was told i should seriously consider being a writer, all because a text message i sent about Jabba and the Whale Rider, which was apparently hilarious. It's something i always wanted as a kid and after keeping up with this blog so well and knowing there are really people who actually read what i say is a real compliment. I like being told i'm funny, it's what a value most. Above being told i'm pretty or smart or anything else. Funny is where i get my kicks.

June - end of month update

June has been an extraordinarily good month. Lots of sun which makes this girl a super happy blogger. Sometimes i wonder if i suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder because i am so damn happy when it's sunny. Like mad amounts. It's not that winter bothers me, i just like an excuse to blast out my sunnies, not wear tights and drink beer outdoors.
Boyhalf and myself just spent the last two days in Glasvegas getting away from everything and just enjoying being with one another.
It was our three year anniversary on Tuesday and it meant a whole lot more than it usually would after everything we have been through the past year. It's been horrible and amazing at times but it really made us realise how much we are meant for one another. Hearing him tell me how much i mean to him and how everything seems like another life because he can't imagine life without me is exactly what a girl needs sometimes and i don't really care what anyone else thinks anymore. It's the most honest we've both ever been.
Trying to figure out ways to get to Vegas from Glasgow to get married at 2am with a hundred quid is what makes me love him more. That and him judging people's dress sense with me and singing Dizzee Rascal songs without stopping for breath.
I really can't describe how happy we are. and smug. We're extremely smug.

Love Dane Cook. Can't get enough of him. It's not like this movie is especially new or profound but it is pretty damn funny and if you love no frills gross out comedy this is for you.

Kidulthood
I had heard a LOT about this and don't really know why i took so long to get around to it but i'm super glad i finally did. Had me saying 'Blud' at the end of everything though. I suspect this wore thin with other people pretty quick.

Bride Wars
I needed something to watch when i was ill that wouldn't make my head hurt. Actually quite enjoyed it. Made me want to plan a wedding though.

The movies i reviews here and a lot of The Hills and Big Brother. A LOT.

Things i love Friday.

This week since i've been a sick pup i've spent much more time than usual on my laptop surfing the interwebs and a whole lot more time playing vintage video games. That's right folks the Boyhalf gots me a SNES (like i needed ANY more reasons to love him). S we've spent a whole lotta time this week sitting playing Mario Allstars and taking turn about. He doesn't mind when i get all pouty when i die straight away and want another go and it's mad cute when he tells me he'll "show me how it's done" then fails miserably. I say it often but i'll say it again.. KEE-PER.
He doesn't even mind me constantly quoting the Mario movie even though i know he finds it horrendous i've even seen it enough to quote it.

I can't really go through without obviously mentioning the passing of Michael Jackson. Incredible songwriter and he really does stand above the rest when it comes to how many people he has influenced through the years. Obviously there is a hideous amount of controversy surrounding him but that doesn't mean, in my eyes, he shouldn't still be missed as an artist.
Farrah Fawcett's passing has also saddened me and i still haven't plucked up the courage to watch Ryan O Neils statement as i'll cry like a baby like i did with Liam Neeson's statement about his wife. Farrah was one of the most beautiful women ever and she will also be sadly missed.

So this blogger is sick.

We're talking full blown quarentine flying pig flu.

This a problem not only because i have missed two days of work now and will probably be roasted alive when i'm well enough to go back but also because i've been cut off from the outside world, which means i've not had much to blog about.

However lucky me managed to have a pretty fantastic weekend before catching the dreaded lurgy and becoming a shell of her former fabulous self.

My saturday was the best i've had in such a long time. Had a girl's night in with Miss V and the best one of the best ones, my wifey. We educated her in 80's cinematic masterpieces such as Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles, ordered lush chinese and drank enough cider to fuel a soho bar on a busy weekend.

Then came 1am. That time of night where you're at a crossroads. You can go to bed knowing you had a good night, noone got hurt, you didn't make too much of a fool of yourself and you had a zero percent chance of getting arrested, OR you can take the other road.

If you know me, you'll be fully aware of which road we took.
It's the one that ended with these photos.

Yep. We entered a whole new era of class. One involving drinking champagne in a park at 2am in our pjs. Not bad for girls ages 19, 21 and 25. At least it wasn't Lambrini.

I really do love my girls.

This weekend me and Balboa have resolved to have a messy one. Britney meltdown messy.

So last night was the BIG one. Transformers 2 : Revenge Of The Fallen. Something i've been making a fairly big deal about for as long as anyone has been able to put up with me. I started to worry if i was being hypeful and was going to be severely let down by this second offering from Michael Bay. This however was FAR from the case.

Oh man. As a fairly hardcore TF fan i was delighted to see them keep a lot of the original flavour and references for the fans and the changes they did make really worked well. Megatron and Starscream's relationship was down to a T and if you've seen any of G1 TF you'll know that the humor element of characters like Mudflap and Skids are right down.( Man i LOVED those two.) They were so fucking funny. Seriously.Like little hoodrat autobots. Jetfire is awesome, i like that they kept his defector history in this movie too.

Megan Fox though, totally hot yes, and her baywatch moments in the last 20 minutes i'm sure kept many boys attentions (hell it kept MY attention) but she really didn't feel tantamount to the plot at all. It feels like they just said "people think you're hot, lets just use that" I felt kinda bad for her. Not too bad, i mean girlfriend's smokin' hot. I;m sure she sleeps pretty easy at night. But really she spends a lot of time screaming "SAAAAAAAAAM" and wearing low cut tops. (Again no complaints.

The scene in the forest was basically badass as bits and i even almost cried once. I'm such a girl. Optimus Prime is a totaly BEAST, Bumblebee likes gratuitous overkill when it comes to fighting household appliances and Wheelie was actually so cute. I was dissapointed in how little Arcee was actually in it as i loved her as a kid but i'm guessing nobody likes a girl Transformer.

I gotta say though and this is in no way a dig at the movie, it did once again make me think of this.

And for Transformers 3 i demand moar Grimlock!

Last night we watched french horror movie Frontier(s) and i was pleasantly suprised. I usually don't hold much stake in European horror films but i think i'm going to give them more of a chance after seeing this. The film's basic premise is there are riots in Paris because they are electing a conservative president and these muslim thiefs take advantage of these riots and organise a heist and plan to run off to Holland and live happily ever after with their stolen cash. They stop at a B&B at the border to regroup and rest and that's when the fun starts when it transpires that their hosts are a fanily of Nazi sympathising cannibals lead by the deranged patriarch and former SS officer Le Von Geisler.
Imagine Hostel mixed with Texas Chainsaw Massacre mixed with the Descent in places and you get the jist.
I think the reason it sat so well with me is i LOVE horror film a LOT, and therefore i see a lot of by the book, same old same old, movies and with Frontier(s) Xavier Gens really goes off the path and that goes a long way to my enjoyment. Sure the plot does, at times, seem a little hashed together, and there was that once point where we thought we were going to be dealing with monsters that live underground (ala Midnight Meat Train/The Descent/Jeepers Creepers), however thet turned out to just be creepy inbred deformed kids.

The only complaints we had were silly little things, like how the lead, Yasmin, acts like a badly programmed robot or a blind jazz musician when she's sjaking from shock. It put me off slightly but i would fullr recommend this to any horror flick fan.

Friday i went to Korova as usual and had a great time until the inevitable dramarama started. For once not really aimed at me (y) yay high fives all round ! But it fully made me aware of how different Boyhalf and his brother are and i'm sure lucky i got the one i did. I really don't have time for people like that anymore.

Saturday stayed in mainly cuz i couldn't hack more drama and in hindesight it was a good choice. I still know the jist of everything that went down though. I don't intentionally seek out gossip, I just know the right people, there isn't much you can hide from me these days, after realising important stuff was flying under my radar last year i make it my business to make your business my business. I don't even want to know to tell people, i just feel like if i know what's going on i can't ever get involved in the lies that are going around.

Boyhalf and i spent the whole of Saturday when he got in from work in bed having incomparable banter and incomparable sex. That boy is a full blown keeper.

I really feel bad for one of the boys, he's such a sweetheart, like a straight up adorable guy and now thanks to rumours and lies he feels like he can't talk to a girl he likes. In this town you can't be anyones pal without them thinking you're doing the nasty. I've learnt that from the rumours surrounding me and RB and me and JC (despite the fact i consider him a little brother. ACK) a girl and a guy can't hang out together alone if they're not dating, that's just crazy.
(I sure hope your sarcasm detectors are fully tuned in)

Speaking of little bro, i'm trying super hard to keep my cool about the possibility of him being dicked around once again. . He's far too good a guy to put up with it. I'm not going to divulge further about this though because i want to wait to hear the truth before we all lynch someone and besides, it's not really MY battle.

Yesterday i hit the pub with JC and we got a little tipsy before hitting Union T's to play football with the whole gang, about 20 of the most decent folk you'll meet. Such banter. I can't even describe how much fun i had, or how much my legs ache today!

Yay for another quick week. I think since i've kept busy i've barely noticed time pass. Spent time with Jamielee this week, and twice this week i've cooked mouth orgasm inducing dinners, Fajitas for Jamielee and Macaroni for Boyhalf, not exactly difficult dishes to master, i am aware, but nonetheless i was proud and the recievers were most happy. I think from now on unless it's something i'm super into i'm just going to do honourable mentions every week for Things I Love Friday. I don't have a lot of time on Fridays to write and, while i'm aware i could have Things I Love Saturday, it doesn't have the same ring to it.
I'm also using this as a platform (pun intended) to discuss these shoes.

I don't understand a single thing about these shoes, at all. NOTHING. I can't even figure out who would wear them. 16cm heels and nothing to support your heel in the middle? Not for me thanks. i can think of only one person who might find these appealing. Her name start with L and ends in Gaga.

Well, i went to see Terminator:Salvation last night, on the promise of Anton Yelchin (although my disappointed surfaced as i realised i only have a girl boner for his russian accent and not a whole lot more ) and Christian Bale wank bank material i figured there were worse ways to spend an evening.
I was never really a big fan of T:3 but i really loved this movie. I think that people unfamiliar with the Terminator series will enjoy it more than those die hard fanboys, but even they will enjoy the cute references and masses of action on offer here. It is MILES better than T:3 but still has a long way to go to fully put that stamp of authority on this franchise.
It feels like McG has taken a leaf out of Michael Bay's book in his post-apocalyptic view on the world after Judgement day and it settles better than the done to death look of Resident Evil and I Am Legend.
Although i will say Skynet seems to be a fairly simple place to bust into despite being oh so advanced, i mean it seems all you have to do is shut down the north gun tower, and you're cooking with gas.. Does that make much sense? Shouldn’t the mecca of machines have better security? Air patrols? ground patrols? cameras? motion detectors? A pesky little guard dog that can't be tamed with trats? Fishing wire tied around pots and pans? Anything that might alert the central hub that its been busted into.
If it’s that easy to get in, why didn't the resistance do it already?
Oh, that’s right - they didn’t have the help of a human-friendly Terminator with a heart of gold. Which, fortunately, has the same blood type as John Connor. And doesn’t require immuno-suppressant drugs. But I digress.

I enjoyed the basic storyline, wasn't bored and wasn't confused, which is all you can really ask for in a thrill seekers movie like this one. The Terminator franchise was never meant to be a cerebral stimulant and that's a-ok with me.
